What to do while the judges judge?

You worked hard on your Round 1 entry, and now you still have a week to wait for the judges' reviews and rankings. In the meantime, maybe you want to keep up your musical momentum. What to do? I've got two suggestions for you: record a cover for the SpinTunes 22 Bonus Round, and/or submit an entry to the 1000th Song Fight!

Keep reading for more info on both options!

SpinTunes 22 Bonus Round

The SpinTunes 22 Bonus Round officially occurs April 29 - May 5, but there's no reason not to get started early! In the Bonus Round, you don't write new songs; instead you record covers of other people's SpinTunes 22 entries, there's no competition, and everybody wins! So if there was a Round 1 song that you loved, why not take the time now to put your own spin on it?

Submit your Bonus Round covers to SpinTunesContest@gmail.com just as you submit your regular entries; be sure to include "Bonus Round" somewhere in the email subject. They'll be accepted any time before the Bonus Round Listening Party on March 6.

1000th Song Fight!

The folks over at Song Fight! are friends of ours, and many of us, myself included, have been active there over the years. At Song Fight, you're given a song title and have to write and record a song with that title. Unlike SpinTunes' tournament format, Song Fight hosts individual fights on a rolling basis throughout the entire year, so it's easy to participate whenever the timing works out for you individually.

Right now, Song Fight is celebrating a huge milestone - their 1000th (yes, one thousandth) title. They're hoping and planning for a huge turnout for this fight, so whether you're a regular Song Fight participant, used to submit there in the past, have never joined a fight, or have never even heard of Song Fight, now's the time to get in on the fun!

For the 1000th Song Fight, you have until March 24 to write and record a new song titled "A Grand Parade" - visit the Song Fight! forum for more info on the fight, and their FAQ page for detailed submission instructions.

  1. My apologies for my lack of voice last week, and my thanks to all the judges. My Grand daughter has impeccable timing in sharing her chest cold. I still don't have much of a voice thanks to her. *Shrugs* I made an effort and will be happy to shadow away, just to get the practice in.
