The Round 1 deadline has past, and 32 bands and artists have submitted official entries. The judges now have the difficult task of ranking these songs, with the top 22 moving on to Round 2. Eliminated artists are encouraged to continue shadowing, as reinstatement is always a possiblity!
As of Monday morning, we also have three non-competing shadow entries. If you missed the deadline (or even if you missed the sign-up period!) you can still submit a shadow entry by following the submission instructions here.
Contestants were asked to write a song featuring a specific color. The whole rainbow and then some was represented, although a few colors stood out as favorites. Check it out:
Your first opportunity to hear all these songs is at the Listening Party hosted by Tommy G, tonight at 9 pm EDT. Join us on YouTube and say hello to the contestants in the live chat.
Who are these contestants? I'm glad you asked. Here's the full list of official competitors:

We're still alive! I'm sure a Miracle Ear and hip replacements are coming soon, but until then, we're cranking out the hits over the last 5 decades!

Brother Baker
We are two brothers that grew up playing loud music together in high school, separated by college and life for 13 years, and now reunited across the country from where we started.
We both have an affinity for pop-punk and bands that scream, but also love complex vocal harmony and playing our brass instruments.
All of this to say, we have no idea what our sound is yet.

“BucketHat” Bobby Matheson
"BucketHat" Bobby Matheson is a cubicle-dweller and former television professional who has been doing this music-competition thing for over a decade.
Influenced by artists like They Might Be Giants, Jonathan Coulton and The Mountain Goats, Matheson is a solo musician who takes an unconventional but folksy approach to home-made song-making.
Lately, he has been writing performing and producing music live on Twitch as a delivery method for his craft.
After nearly 15 years of practice, does he finally have what it takes to win a SpinTunes contest? Only time will tell!

Cavedwellers
Originally from Southern California, High School friends started writing songs together after years of playing covers. The originals started coming in 1992, still going strong. These days Truth is in PA and glennny is in the Bay area of California.
Chas Rock
Originally from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Chas has been living in Chicago for the past 7 years. He currently is an understudy for the Second City Comedy Theatre, performs regularly at both CiC and Logan Square Improv Theatres, and has been recording and producing music for local artists over the past year. He hasn't written a song in a long time and is very excited to just have some fun making weird sounds with everybody!
Daniel Sitler
Daniel is a composer and multi instrumentalist. In the past he has written music for folk duo The Magician’s Nephews, Brass based collective Daniel Sitler & Des Amis, and a variety of concert works. He is currently the guitarist in Toledo based indie rock band Adoremus.
The Dutch Widows
The Dutch Widows just want to make music. The only important thing is to turn it over. It doesn't need to be perfect, which is lucky, because it won't be. It doesn't need to be good, which is also lucky for the same reason. We just need to like it, although we won't always. You get the idea.

Menage A Tune
Menage a Tune is JoAnn Abbott and various individuals over the years who she has been able to convince, coerce, blackmail, shanghai, drug, bribe or otherwise get to join her in creating songs. She is a silly person. Ted Kiper is a long-suffering partner coming back for more of her caffeine loaded squirrel antics, and there are rumors' of a Dave, and a David, and maybe even a Stephen who will be joining her this time. Or her grandkids. Even she isn't certain...

Cybronica and Grumpy Mike join forces to make some music. They’ve only done this once before with mass appeal and great success. Let’s see what happens.

For nearly twenty years, Sober has foisted his unwanted twangy nonsense onto the Songfight community. #17 was his first experience with Spintunes, and he's looking forward to getting crushed again by more talented and attractive artists.

Stacking Theory is more than a band or a broken link to tumblr. Stacking Theory is a philosophy, a way of life, a mantra, an arrangement of small trinkets on a window sill. Stacking Theory is a non-codified collection of opinions about what goes where and why. There can be no one unity, but there can be Stacking Theory.

Third Cat
Third Cat is a kind of psychedelic indie pop electronic rock thing. Band members include somewhere between one to four human members and exactly two cats. Third Cat did this SpinTunes thing once before (SpinTunes 15.) Third Cat loves talking about Third Cat in the third person. OK.
